Well this year come Hell or high water I will be at the Classic. I regretfully missed last years tournament but will not miss this years I guarantee.

The partner that was going to accompany me had a change in plans and couldn't make it so I decided with the way Gas was I would fly down and beg borrow or rent a boat for this occasion.

But, since then I have another fellow interested in partnering up with me and share gas, so we will see how that gels.

So, one way or another I will be there. Schoe

Me and Steve Farley are taking the boys up to Wewa to camp, fish and run some limblines on the 16th of July. I plan on scouting out some holes for the FCC while I'm there. When we were up last weekend for the tournament we stayed over with Maurice (Mohawk) and Lucy. Saturday after the weigh-in and cleaning fish over at Donnie's, we were invited over to the Masons Lodge for an outstanding fish fry and got to see alot of our good friends there. Maurice says he might fish the FCC if his schedule will permit. Sure hope he does. Can't wait to fish this year's FCC. We are gonna have eight people coming up from Tampa to fish the tournament and we will be camping over at the Dead Lakes Campground. Sure is gonna be one heck of a WIF get-togather there....Ray

I hope your scouting pays off Ray, and I'm sure your findings will be shared, Ha, Ha.

I'm fairly sure I will be staying out at the Dead Lakes Campground also as it is such a nice place.

I am really working on our member "Goofy" to come down with me this year and hopefully that comes to pass.

Hey BIG, it's August! I spoke with a buddy on Thursday about getting some Bream to take up to Wewa with us for the FCC. Sure would be nice to travel up with about 4 dozen bait in the tank. Here is a pretty solid list of fishermen coming to the FCC from the Tampa area:
John Fincher and Ray Manus (team)
John McDaniel and Steve Collier (team)
Fred Oakleaf, Allen Lively and Jimmy Bryant (team)
David Short and his brother (team)
Jessie Nobles and wife (on vacation)
Tried to get a message to Lib Tambe to find out if he's coming up but I haven't heard anything back....Ray

And don't forget, I'm bringing MY secret weapon! The BOSS will be my partner. :party0045:
She has been working her reeling arm out extra hard, taking her vitamins, she even wanted me to build a carport so she could practice fish like Ray.
See you all in a few weeks.

Yep...it's getting close. I will be bringing my secret "ringer" partner with me as well. I am also going to try and bring around 50 bluegills down with me this time. Hopefully they make the trip from Ohio. If not...they sure will stink up some rest area on the way down...lol

Hey "Big", which decals are you thinking of. I have some whereifish.com white or black lettering. If you want something else let me know.

One thing I'm bringing is those Therma-Cell Mosquito thinggies to sell. I tell you what those things work and I think we will be right in the middle of Mosquito season. I have 9 units and the same number of refills. I should order another dozen. They will sell for $22.00 and the refills are $7.50.

I'm bringing some new to the area Dip Bait that is some of the best I have used in our area and I am sure it will work well down there. I think I will have enough so each boat will have one small tub.

Also I'm bringing some Dip Worms to have folks try out also that are produced locally where I live.

Both of these companies are looking to expand to Fla. and I don't know any better way than get the products out at the FCC.

It sounds like there will be a good showing of old friends and faces this year and I am getting anxious.

Well we had a great trip to Wewa and it sure was good to see all of the WIF members who were there. Between Schoe and Angie we ate a feast fit for a king. That gravey Shoe made was perfect to soak up with a piece of cornbread. There must have been 50 people in and out of the house during the meal and nobody went away hungry. The tournament went real good even with a rising river and some big ole Flatheads found their way to the scales. Donnie might have to correct me but I think this is how it ended up:

1st Place: 33 pounds
2nd Place: 28 pounds
3rd Place: 27 pounds
4th Place: 23 pounds
5th Place: 22 pounds

There was alot of door prizes given away and a bunch of happy kids who fished the "Kids Channel Cat Classic". I've already got back into the routine of cleaning up the boat and getting gear ready for the next river trip. Once that's done there won't be anything to do except go out to the garage and set in the boat about once a week....LOL....Ray

Yes, Goofy and myself had a great time in Fla. this year. Goofy had the pleasure of meeting some of my old friends and we both got to meet some new ones.

As always Don and Angie Minchew outdid their selves pouring out their Southern hospitality to everyone who visited their house and I sincerely thank them for that.

Those that managed to catch Flats during the tournament are to be congratulated as the conditions weren't the best even for catching bait.

The river was high with lots of logs, docks, whole trees, muddy water, etc., to make for some hard fishing.

One thing about it, there's always next year.

I hired a reliable photographer to shoot videos of what was going on Fri. and Sat. during the tournament also to shoot stills of the same.

Once we have them they will be posted for all to enjoy.

Below are a few photos of the area and some happenings.
