ive been given the opportunity to test out the RMC-701-mh baitcasting rod.

no problems at all with the butt cap on this model.some weakness/flex when i pushed hard on where the insert ended but i think the problem may be twofold....the insert diameter is too big and where it ended on the other rods was where a section of the cork ended/joined to another.the rod i recieved the end of the insert is in the middle of a cork ring.can you guys check and see if that might be the case?

the finish is appealing to me,distinctive but well done.

8 guides plus the tip is outstanding!

action is very good, different taper/action than some mid to high range rods i own but much more to my liking.loads up well for casting, and extremely good when fighting a fish.actually snagged and drug in a 6ft section of log 4 inches across and the heavy load was distributed evenly the whole length of the rod.

honestly havent found any concerns except the butt cap with this rod.loads up on the cast almost like a stiff medium action rod but handles a load like a fast action flipping rod..

if the finish is changed and is thicker towards the butt how much will that change the action/distribution of load?to me its perfect now and hate to see it change at all.

landed several fish today up to 10 lbs in heavy current on this rod and handled the load very well.

had the same problem with the buttcap, went to make a long cast (2 handed) and it snapped off..the break started at a joint in the cork and went down to even with the plug......plan on epoxying it back together to finish testing the rod since it severely throws off the balance

gave the rod a good workout today, chunked a 3/4 oz spinnerbait for around 4 hours straight with no problems.normally i use a flipping rod for my 3/4 to 1 1/2 oz spinnerbaits but even though the rod was on the light side for me it performed admirably......later in the afternoon i used it for some light catfishing, landed a 20 lb snapping turtle on it no worries even though i drug it thru a couple laydowns on the way in.

very interesting day for this "m" series rod.....while chunking crankbaits i lost the "rubber" part of the butt cap.id already had to epoxy the broken part back on so definately needs work on this

switched from bass to drifting for cats and the rod was just perfect in action and backbone for this.had the proper amount of give in the tip and plenty of backbone for the fight.keep in mind i dont use heavy wieghts for this in lakes though but believe it would handle 1 1/2 ounces comfortably
