used both reels quite a bit yesterday.....the 1000 still performs very well even after fishing in a couple rain storms.absolutely no problems
the 3000 has whats starting to become a very bad problem.used it for chunking cranks and changed rods to flip/pitch with it for a while, then changed rods again an catfished the rest of the day with it.problem is with the sideplate screws coming loose.9 times in a 8 hour trip.seemed to be more of a problem when catfishing trying to land a fish.
on the up side it makes a wonderfull flipping/pitching reel.paired it with my okuma guide select swimbait rod and it was extremely comfortable,easy to set an thumb the spool. handled the small cats on a long line well also,drag was very smooth (had it set light for my son because of the braid)
