That is an interesting law. I still wouldn't be comfortable fishing where I'm not welcome though.
This law is probably there to avoid having fishing not revert to the old days in England where most all fishing streams were owned and closed to the "commoners" . At least that is what I have read. ole giller

Out of 47 years of asking permission I have ONLY been told NO twice.
I give them three tries. The third time I have the regs with me and if they say NO again I point out the regs. Some people don't know the regs. If they still say NO...I tell them I am wading.
I guess it doesn't hurt that I am 6'04" 250 and a retired cop either. They may come out any try to intimidate you once but then they decided you won't be scared away and they leave you alone.

hey thanks will serve me well next time i go to wi. i never would have guessed that. illinios would do well with this law. you can float over private lands but as soon as you drop an anchor or set foot on the bottom you are trespassing in smaller waterways.. creeks, ditches ect....
