So i was wondering if any one puts out crab traps out as they fish at the same time. This one spot i have is on the potomac and i heard its good crabbing out there. So i was wondering if yall tryed both?

Well Craig I never used a trap while fishing in Fla. but did use a Turkey Neck tied on a weighted hook and lowered to the bottom of the Canal. My wife and I caught 23 Blue Crab one afternoon doing this.

We just kept an eye on the rod tip and line and before you knew it it would start moving. I just started reeling up fairly fast and had the net ready when it surfaced. A couple of times there were two hanging on. Boy were they good. Schoe

That's the best way to catch'em Schoe. Or if your adventurous you can try shufflin' your bare feet for them. Thats the easy way to get them/hurt...lol

If you are a little lazy, here is a trick for you.
Take about fifteen wraps around your hand with some yarn, tie it around the middle and attach it to your bait. The crabs tangle up in the yarn ,and you do'nt need to net them.Just swing them aboard. Surprisingly they still come off easily. I tried it at Barn Island in Rhode Island and it worked great. It was in a Boys Life Magazine I had when I was a kid.( Anyone remember that mag.?)

the bare feet is not a good way like kirk said you would do the moon walk or try to fly out of the water with one on your toe

HEY JOE
Speaking of magazines,if you or any of the rest can get your hands on
the latest edition of NORTH AMERICAN FISHERMAN,it has a real eye
opener article on flathead fishing in the day time.

I'll have to read that if my subscription hasn't ran out(can't remember if it's been 2 years or not). I love reading Fur Fish and Game, and Midwest Outdoors Magazine. My father used to have a few issues of Boys Life, but I'm not sure what ever happened to them.

Yep,
Boys Life was a great magazine.Someone should revive it for the grade and middle school kids.It helped shape a lot of youths back then. I remember my first Fur-Fish,and Game subscriptions too.Back then they were printed on newsprint.I made spending money trapping back then, and they were the trappers bible. The old trapline has a mall and apartment building sites on it now.
Dang I'm old.
