Ok,OK.. I know I said I don't do PONDS but, a friend of mine (yes I got 1) stopped by Sunday. He was Jonesin' to do some kind of fishing.. Well the river sucks this time of the year so, we went to the local city "lake" Yes I said lake ! The Sturgis,KY Airport Lake , the last time I was out there, there was 30,000 of us there... Not fishing but, partyin'.. The Little Sturgis KY Bike Rally. Anyhow back to the fishing. We took my little 12ft boat and a bucket of minnows, went looking. After about 5 hours and a whole bunch of "fun" we had 24 of the prettiest little crappie, bass and gills. I had forgotten how much fun that could be.. We used Micro-Light rods and 4lb line so the fights were just like bringin' in the big'uns. Just thought I'd let you boys know, I am open for new (old) adventures ! Soupy in KY PS and by the way.. Just for a weekend get-a-way boys.. The Sturgis Airport is a very nice place to camp and do some pan fishing.. They do a great job of keeping it cleaned up and it's a city lake so your camping is free.. Just make sure you pick the right months to stop by, 'cause in July you'll be with a bunch of bikers.

Sounds like a great time! Around here little farm ponds and county lakes (less than 20 acres) produce some of the very best fishing a person could ask for

The farm ponds you can often find out about in the barbershops on town square if you been here a while

The county lakes are generally underfished and very well maintained and stocked

Sounds like you had a nice relaxing day,it gave you a chance to get
away from having to lift those 50lb cats up into the boat, did you eat
them or pen them up for bait??;)

We had just as much fun finding all the treasures on that lake
Don't look like anybody has had a boat out there for a while..

Sounds like a good time Soupy!!! If I wasn't so busy fishing, I could amass a collection of floats. But, when I'm bank fishing with mono in brush, I'd just put them back. lol Mike

They have a ramp that you can get in and out with.. (not pretty but, feasible), trolling motors only and if you can get it in the water don't matter how big your boat is.
