Hello, fellow fishin' fanatics!! My name's SirFishALot (really it's Gerald), and I'm glad to see a forum like this. I am a member on many forums, but only one other fishing forum. I've been looking around here and it seems to be a pretty decent forum with lots of advice. Me, I'm no pro or anything, but I HAVE been fishing as long as I can remember.......35 years worth. It's one of my favorite things in the entire world. So if I can help in any way, just let me know. I probably will be asking some questions here myself.;)

Just to let everyone know how much I like fishing......I fished 5 of the last 7 days for 3 different species. Caught fish every day. I wish it was all I had to do, let me tell you.

Went trout fishing today and only caught a few, but the scenery was terrific. I took some pics to share with friends, so here are some for, hopefully, some new friends. I hope you enjoy pics of PA in the Spring! And check out this monster native brook trout!

Welcome to the group Dude ! That there fish you're a holding would make some fine bait down here in KY...But, that's just my opinion. I'm Soupy here in western KY on the Ohio River so watch what you drop in that river up there, it all comes down here on me. And you can let some of them big'uns git by you up there, I'll git 'em down here. Again... Welcome to the group :)

Hey, soupy, all this water goes into the Chesapeake Bay, via the Susquehanna River.;) That is a baby, they typically are much larger, but we fortunately still have some streams that are natural and clean enough yet to have breeding poulations of native trout. I just thought he was a cute and colorful little guy so I snapped a pic. My largest of that sub-species is 21" long and 4 1/2#. It had a hooked jaw and some nasty teeth, too. Pretty good for a brookie.;)

We have some flatheads like that in the Alleghany and Ohio rivers here, but nowhere else. In the Susquehanna river there are lots of channel cats, though, and I make a point of going after them at least several times a year. Never caught any channel cats THAT size, though. Geez! That thing is a moose!! My biggest channel cat was 24#, but not as big as flatheads get. Too bad the Alleghany river is so far....

SOUPY you really done it now converting him to a catfisherman, now your
going to have to watch for him getting towed down the river by a 80 lb
flathead.we wish him all the luck in the world,we would like to have a
member set a state record for any fish.{SIRFISHALOT} GOOD LUCK !!!!

That would be a long ways to be dragged down river! All I need is a belly boat!:p

I do have some tackle that I believe could handle a flathead, though. I've used those rods for salmon, steelies and stripers, so they should hold up.:D Boy, those are some hard running fish!

I just had to remind him that our babies down here weigh in at about 70lbs..Kirk if you get the G3 boat you got a chance for the big money on a state or world record... I think they are giving $3000.00 for a state record and $30,000.00 for a world record... I guess you know which one I'm after.
SIRFISHALOT I got into some of them babies this morning.. Strip Bass about three inches long... I hate those things..

Those are some nice little babies, Soupy. I've never seen a striper so small. When they run the Delaware river here they are all quite a bit larger than that.;) Like 50 pounds plus for a large female full off eggs.:D And talk about mean and nasty! WHOA!!

I sure do enjoy cats, but they ARE a bit slow and sluggish.

As you have seen in my pics. and gonna see s'more later on tonight my boat is the G3 2072 which is big enuff for just about everybody on here to fish out of at the same time... I got it because, not for the glory, but, because it is so big...and it was paid for by Peabody) As you know, I got hurt in the mines a few years ago and the better half has spent the biggest part of her life on her feet ,so neither one of us has any knees...The sides on mine are 30 or 32 inches high and 8ft 3 inches wide, makes it hard to bring in the big'uns but, also makes it hard for either one of us to fall out of. I reckon you have fished some big rivers, so you know how they can be when the weather acts up...
I spent the day today cleaning the blood and guts out of my boat just so I can get some pics. for you guys... not really, (got the UPS boys going next week)..
Funny you brought it up.... Got a check in the mail today for my fishing license. And yes I'm in the run for the state record out here, Just haven't caught it yet...But, did talk to Doug Henely today (about the tag Paddle Fish we caught), he's over the KY Dept of Fish and Wildlife. He told me to send in all the info. on my 67 pounder I caught in April and I will get a trophy from them for the Master Angler Award Program that they have going on...So, on the funny side.... I'm no longer a Master Baiter anymore I'm a Master Angler.

I'm gonna hold off in getting that trophy for my big 'un . Here in KY you can't count them twice... So I have to save up 'til I get three different fish so I can get the BIG AWARD.. But that shouldn't be to hard.... I'll just have to get some more DYN-O-MITE !
