 Ok guys, I'm stumped.
Went out yesterday with Doc Mitchell to get some fillets for the freezer.
Plan was to fish the stickups and logjambs where we usually have good to excellent luck. When we got to the river though we were surprised to see the water was down about seven or eight feet below normal. The old haunts were now brushpiles on dry land.
We decided to catch a few redbellies and fish the holes because the fishfinder was marking good numbers in twelve to eighteen foot levels.
Seemed like a good plan except even using wigglers and mealworms we could'nt even buy a bite from them. Problem two,no live bait for the cats. We had Danneys Punch Bait , liver, and wigglers, so we tried our best to make do with them. Doc caught three cats about seven or eight inches long and one just big enough to fry up in the round. He also caught a good sized gar on liver. I caught a sunburn.
I know everyone has had these days, and I was wondering what the other members would do in this case.
I would appreciate any input guys.

Kirk, I've never fish up in that river but I've also heard that there are Blue's there. I believe ya'll have a good chance of getting into them. Good luck, ya'll be safe and have fun....Ray

KIRK,
The ramps are in good shape. They run flush with the riverbed so there are no problems there. They are deep enough to cause no problems with getting the engines down at launch.
As for the blues, that is a million dollar question.Do'nt forget I'm having trouble finding my main target fish with this low water. If we can get the redbellies we will have a good chance at the flatties that are marking on the fishfinder I think.I just hope it is'nt pods of sturgeon or gar down there.
We just have to keep a positive attitude, and try to read the river. We have to give that new boat first blood.

KIRK,
If you do hook a white sturgeon you better have the BIG rod and a LOT of line.It can take about 1/2 hour to just get them to the boat. I've hooked them up north using cut bait. Also have a quick release anchor with a float.
