Hello to all from So. IL. Just got back from vac. in Milan, IL and am signing up on "Where I Fish" and am looking forward to talking to different people about ideas and tips that we all can use. I would also like to thank the gentleman who gave me a card to join this site, but I cannot remember his name. If he reads this I am the guy that was at the steel dam in Milan the day you and your grandsons were fishing. I gave them some white curly tail grubs to use. If you read this please contact me and let me know your name:cool:

I'm going to guess that was Illinoisgiller. He brought a big buffalo over to Schoe's that afternoon while we were doing some work there. Welcome to WIF, and I hope you come to the Quad Cities more often.

Welcome to the site Fisherman_5351!!! It was certianly a pleasure meeting you over at the Steel Dam on your visit to Milan. I and the grandsons seldom fish that spot due to crowded conditions, but I'm glad we crossed paths there. :D Your helping the grandson out was really appreciated.
You had those stripers figured out for sure.
I'm pretty hard-of hearing ,and missed your being from southern IL. You got lucky. lol I'd have been pestering you about where you hide the bigger bluegill down there.
Both grandsons have been in the newspaper holding big Asian carp that jumped into the boat from Horseshoe Lake down by Ciaro.
I and the wife have slayed the smallish crappie from shore at the marina on Crab Orchard a couple times.
I think you will enjoy your stay here with the Whereifish family. :D I'm looking forward to sharing my experiances, and most of all, listening to yours. Mike

Hey Mike-sorry that I did not catch your name at the Steel Dam. It was a pleasure talking to yoy and your grandkids, and helping them. When I signed up on Whereifish I did not put your name in as who referred me to the site. As far as big bluegill go I have not been able to find them any more, so I fish mostly for cats in the Ohio river. If you are comming down this way let me know and I will try to make plans to get some time off and take you out and try for some cats.

Bill. I can give you a hot tip on where to NOT find the big gills now . That is unfortunately the formerly famous Horseshoe Lake . From the stories I've heard, it was the best in IL. before the 1993 levee breech swept them out.
There are other good spots I'm sure, but Horseshoe is past-tence from my experiance. I now haunt the southern Iowa waters a lot.
I plan to gain more "cattin experiance' in the future.
Hope we get the chance to cross trails again, Mike
