I hope what has been happening the last couple of weeks with the big cats is a good preview of whats yet to come this fall. I haven't been doing too much channel cat fishing but am going in the morning with my neighbor and using his boat as mine is in the repair shop.

Man it was a sad thing leaving my boat like that. It was almost as bad as leaving a family member at the hospital. If my good neighbor wouldn't have rescued me I would probably be having withdrawal. Schoe

Schoe, did you damage your boat on the Rock? With so little rain I bet the bottom isn't too far from the top right now. Hard to navigate with so little water under you.

I sure would love to have been around when you wrestled that big fella you got on your shoulder in your profile pic. That had to be a real rush. You gotta tell me the whole story one of these days.

Yes, I did it on the Rock. There is a rock ledge that runs several hundred feet that I have run over countless times without a mishap but all it takes is once to find the high spot. I'm definitely going to get one of those prop and skeg protectors installed.

You ask about a rush, yes definitely there was a rush and I had no idea how big he was until his head broke water. I might as well have thrown away my net as I came real close to loosing him by trying to get his head started in. Finally I grabbed that long gaff hook I keep in the boat and after a couple of trys got him under the lower jaw and hauled him in. Schoe

I'm really wanting to get started after the Flats in Rock River with Pole and line instead of bank Poles. I think I can get them that way now from what I've learned from bank polling.
Now I'm having electronics problems with the boat motor and dropped it off at the boat Dr. today. Hopefully they get it done by Mon. sometime. Schoe

HEY SCHOE
The fishing was rough here in florida this summer,we had 6 straight weeks
of 100+ days, water temp was 94 degrees at 5 ft deep,it is a good thing
i am an early riser,if you didnt have your fishing done or whatever you
intended to do,finished by 10:00 a.m. you could not stand to be out,the
fish really were slow in starting to bite until we had the last hurricane and
it cooled off.

Hey Kirk, two guys I work with want to catch up some fish for a fish fry so I'm going to take them over to Turkey Creek on Monday and try to put them on some channel cats. If you wake up and find your schedule empty, come on over. We will look for you on the water....Ray
