My son stopped by shortly after noon and invited me to go along with him, his wife, and son for some bluegillin. I had no interest in going out on a holliday weekend. so told him I would pass.
I got a call later that my grandson took the wrong set of waders. :rolleyes: I threw in my float tube and went off to deliver them.
The bite was slow as I had expected, but the gills were huge ones. Most all were females heavy with eggs. Was pretty neat to see 4 Fish Cat#4 float tubes on a small lake. I forgot my camera in my haste to get the waders there, so no pictures. :mad:
The best jigs were the little 1/80 oz.pink head "Grizzly Water Flea" and the Shadle's white 1/124 th oz sparkle jig.The orange head w/duck belly feathered body took a few also.
Since we are heavy in gill fillets and this lake gets more than it's share of pressure, we turned them all loose before we left. We didnt count, but easy 50+ fish on a slow bite made for a neat weekend. :D Mike
