The Flathead fishing has started to really pick up here in the Quad City area as I baited up 10 bank poles with live Bluegills late last night and ran them this morning and had five nice eater size Flatheads from 6.5 to 10 Lbs. It looks like the fall run is on. I really wish I had more time to fish with pole and line for them.
My boat was down for a while but my neighbor was gracious enough to take me out a couple times so I wouldn't have withdrawal during that time.
Let us know how you are doing. Schoe

The catfishing is still slow here but the temps are supposed to drop to 37 degress here Thursday night. That should give them flatties a kickstart into fall feeding...lol

The strip mine ponds in Western Illinois are producing 1-5lb Channels on Dip bait, and livers.

Have been fishing the Hennipen Canal, only taking 3-4 channel cats out every time but real nice ones. Last trip out 4 cats came home with me and my brother. We got 5 pounds of meat off them.

When you have been fishing in the Canal have you noticed any Shad working that a fellow might get with a cast net. Schoe

Schoe, sorry for the long delay, i have been busy. the canal is full of shad that is all that i have been fishing with. me and my bro hang a coleman lantern over the side of the boat and troll along to where we want to go fishing and they are attracted to the light/boat. easy catch with a cast net. I do not know how many that are left. two weeks ago a lot of them were dying and coming over the spillways.
