I was surfing around and found this place. I saw there were more than a couple Illinois members, I thought I would pop by and say hello. I checked out the members galleries, man there are some BIG catfish there. I started a gallery with a picture of my fishing buddy (my wife) with a decent bass she caught this summer. She has her "lucky fishing hat" on.

Central Illinois, a little town called Lovington. Kinda boring territory. There are alot of farm ponds around, a river just outside of town (2 miles?) and I am 10 minutes from Lake Shelbyville. My Grampa has a nice farm pond about 15 minutes away.

I have been reading when I visit, not posting much. For Illinois that is a decent bass, 5lb +. My Grampa has a little 2 acre pond that is full of big fish. I have caught 18 lb channel cats, 7+ lb bass, 16" crappie and some of the biggest bluegill you would want to catch on ultra light tackle. He has some bluegill 10" and well over a pound. I have pictures of some of the bigger fish I have caught there. I will post them in the gallery when I dig them out.

I even have a video tape somewhere of those bass hitting topwater. We were camping out there one weekend and had the camcorder and my wife taped me fishing. EVERY cast they hammered a top water bait I was throwing. She taped for 10 minutes, I bet I caught 12 big fish in 10 minutes. I have to dig that out and watch it again, that was a few years ago and I had forgot about it.

Welcome to the whereifish family. You'll enjoy it here. Lots of good people that are willing to share tips and such.
I seldom click on members home pages, but seen yours and slipped over for a look. Now that is some fine craftsmanship!!!! Congradulations on the fine work you do.
Your gramps farm pond sounds interesting. I'd bet you enjoy the tussle of Bull Gills from there. I and my two grandsons have been on the hunt for a bluegill that weighs in at a full pound. We MAY have got there already but don't always have anything to weigh with. I do know that we have got on some very impressive bigguns and didn't seem important at the time if they were a full pound or not. :D I have put some pictures in the gallery. At least they are somewhere in there. I'm not very good with this computer.
As for your area being boring- - - Cummon now- Must be an "eyes of the beholder thing" :D You are sitting in some of the finest fishing in our state. We'll look forward to hearing from you and if you get the chance, post lots of pictures. Mike

Mike, thanks for the compliment on my work. I really enjoy it. I was a master plumber and had my own plumbing business...but I didn't really like it. I love samilling, it is HARD work, but that never killed anybody. Wood is my thing now and woodworking is a ball (one day I will get good at it). I put some more picture in the gallery of me and fish. And a picture of "where I fish" a decent shot of my Grampa's pond. I have yet to find a picture of one of those big bluegill...but the aren't just a fishing story;) , they are in that pond.
