It seems like the last few years when I was in Wis. during the heated months we did real well on the Crappies. The best time periods were the first thing in the morning then an hour or so before and after dark.

I am curious if this is the norm or were we just Lucky? Schoe

Can't speak for Wisconsin, but around here I have always found the after dark bite to be far and away the best for crappie after bout mid-end of June
Seems like they lay off in holes during the day an come up at nite to feed

Can't say that I blame you Joe. The lakes that we have been fishing in Wis. either don't have any Walleyes or have very few.
Our Walleye fishing has been in Canada where it is fabulous fishing. We have really been spoiled by catching 25 to 100 a day per man and thats not at fly in lakes. I am sure that there are some lakes in Wis. and Minn. that are very good for Walleyes but so far I haven't been to one yet. Schoe

I think the best walleye water I found in Min is Rainey River, have not been up in while but we used to go up to Franz Jenner State Park for few days
every year and the fishing is unbelievable
Walleye, crappie, northerns, and probably the best Smallie fishing I have
ever encountered
Trolling or finding spots and casting
Right between Rainy Lake an Lake of the Woods, water rises an falls
with the flow from the lakeas
Last time we were up there was a consumption warning on the fish
which was kind of a bummer but the fishing was wonderful
Real nice trip to take in the fall

schoe that little lake just south of bruce used to be loaded with big walleye ,crappie and everything else. its fed by the river thru a swamp. water comes in one side of a long rice point and out the other.bluegill were on the smaller side though
